Project Overview
Twin cylindrical Aluzinc reservoirs delivering 1,846.64 kL of effective bulk water storage to ASIB specification for one of the country's largest shopping centres.
The Challenge
One of South Africa's largest shopping centres needed close to 1.85 million litres of stored water for fire protection and supply security, installed inside an operating construction programme.
Our Solution
Two large-diameter cylindrical Aluzinc reservoirs were engineered to the available pad area and erected on site, with the total reserve split so the centre never loses all storage during maintenance.
Scope of Work
- Hydraulic and structural sizing with the consulting engineers
- Manufacture of two large-diameter Aluzinc reservoirs
- Site erection, levelling and testing
- Integration with fire and domestic pump rooms
The Result
1,846.64 kL of effective water storage in service, giving the centre both an ASIB fire reserve and a buffer against municipal supply interruptions.
